SULLIVAN SCHOOL GOES SOLAR
PerfectPower, Inc. helps Sullivan School and Earth Day Network with ‘Green’ initiative.

Phoenix, AZ., February 6, 2009 – PerfectPower, Inc, together with Earth Day Network and the University of Phoenix Foundation today announced the greening of William R. Sullivan Elementary School in Phoenix. The ‘green makeover’ is part of Earth Day Network’s ‘Green Schools Campaign,’ which aims to create healthy, energy-efficient and sustainable learning environments – both indoors and outdoors.

The centerpiece of the project is a 2.1kw solar electric system installed by PerfectPower, Inc. This 9 panel system, although small, will have a significant impact on the environment and on the school’s energy expense. Over the next 30 years the solar system will save over $120,000 and 166,800 pounds of CO2. Dave Brady of PerfectPower, Inc. says, “We have designed the system so it can grow with the needs and resources of the school. Up to 18 more solar panels can be easily added making the system size 6.2kw without any significant infrastructure modifications. Through future fund raising, grants, or donations an even greater amount of energy can be harnessed from the sun with an even bigger ‘green’ benefit.” This was accomplished through the addition of a larger power ‘Inverter’ than what would normally be required for a system this size. The additional cost associated with this upgrade was donated by PerfectPower, Inc.

Aside from the obvious financial and environmental benefits of the solar system, there are numerous educational opportunities. John Balfour, MEP, PHD, and President of PerfectPower, Inc. says, “We are seeing an incredible amount of attention paid lately to renewable energy concepts and sustainable lifestyles. This solar system presents a host of educational opportunities for students to learn about alternative sources of energy, their practical uses, and the benefits they provide.”

One of the unique features of the system is a digital display enabling students and school officials to monitor the energy output from the solar system every day and see, in real time, how much energy is being produced and the effect it is having on the environment.

Representatives will be at Sullivan School during Earth Day to answer questions from students, teachers, faculty, and the public.
