John Balfour, BS, MEP, Ph.D., LEED Accredited Professional, President

Founder and Owner, John Balfour is PerfectPower, Inc.’s resident solar Expert. Widely acknowledged as a premier leader in the solar industry, he has consulted with government agencies, the Photovoltaic Test Lab (PLT), residential and commercial developers, and numerous customers on product design, evaluation and performance under his alter ego The Energy Doctor ™.

Dr. Balfour also brings extensive sales and marketing and Project Management experience, such as:

Developed extensive partnerships with Universities, electric utility companies, private and public organizations both locally and internationally
Pioneered Solar Hot Water-Electric Utility/New Home Builder partnership and business alliance discussions with Salt River Project (SRP), National Labs and SEIA
Developed and lead design team which included Sun Systems, Arizona State University, DOE, Sandia National Laboratories, The National Renewable Energy Laboratory, The Copper Development Association, local builders and roofers, the National Tile Association and others
Impacted and Changed DOE Solar Energy policy towards residential and production home builder program efforts and away from Solar Pool Heating efforts

John received his BS in Political Science, Master of Architecture in Environmental Planning and Doctor of Philosophy degrees and participates in many volunteer activities, Community Leadership and industry groups and associations.
